Our coverage varies by data type — not every city has the same depth of information. We're transparent about where coverage is deep and where it's thinner.
Coverage tiers
- 29,000+ cities across 190+ countries for environmental data — climate, air quality, green space. These come from global satellite datasets that cover every inhabited area on Earth.
- 10,000+ cities for demographics and economy — cost of living, safety, infrastructure. Sourced from statistical offices and international organizations.
- 500+ cities for lifestyle and culture — food scene, nightlife, coworking, walkability. Derived from geographic databases and AI-assisted analysis of open sources.
Why coverage varies
Satellite data covers the entire planet. Government statistics don't. Climate metrics from ERA5 are available for any coordinate on Earth. But cost-of-living data requires a statistical office that publishes it, and lifestyle metrics require dense enough geographic data to score meaningfully.
We're constantly expanding — both the number of cities and the depth of metrics per city.
How we handle gaps
- Missing data is shown, not hidden. City pages indicate which metrics have data and which don't.
- We never fabricate scores. If we don't have data for a metric in a city, that metric is absent — not estimated or averaged from nearby cities.
